For many years Freud's understanding of female sexual development was studied as an antecedent of her male counterpart but never analyzed on its own merits. He has been accused of being unaware or ignorant of many things concerning sexual development and women. Some scholars hold he is lacking in an understanding of the emotional, biological and spiritual depth of female sexuality. A few of Freud's contemporaries and several neo-Freudians have shown some courage in challenging the status quo thus paving the way for a paradigm shift in the field of psychoanalysis and the studies in feminine sexual development. This book seeks to guide the reader in the direction of understanding women in the natural and spiritual demotions of sexual development. It investigates the real struggles women go through in an effort to find self and discover their womanhood.
